, president obama leads in five of them. only holds on an average lead in florida. this is why mitt romney will not give up on campaigning until the bitter end. he's back on the stump tomorrow. in a last-ditch effort to pull off a shocker in these two states. it's not surprising. there are efforts underway to make it harder for people to vote. you're seeing the result of manmade voter suppression. lines for early voting stretched around corners in ohio. make no mistake, this is a calculated decision to limit access to polls. ohio secretary of state john husted has been the focal point of a lot of criticism. he approved the restriction on early voting around the state. the same is happening in florida. voters waited as late as 2:30 a.m. to cast a ballot this weekend. voters reported wait times of up to, i cannot believe this number, seven hours. more people voting in democratic-leaning areas is bad for the gop. republican governor rick scott reduced number of early voting days and was able to defeat a court challenge to uphold his ruling in most of the state of florida. republicans,

, florida, georgia, and louisiana have all met the 25,000 mark. of course, the big winner is texas. over 84,000 people in texas have signed up to break way from the united states. as of tonight the white house has not issued a response to any of these petitions. rick perry has flirted with the idea of an independent texas in the past, but this time he's changed his tune. his office released a statement saying governor perry believes in the greatness of our union and nothing should be done to change it. but he also shares the frustrations many americans have with our federal government. really? believe it or not, it's good news for democrats that texas is sticking around, because it's slowly turning blue. texas has a large growing population of latinos and asian-americans who typically vote democratic. a study from the "houston chronicle" shows the number of texas democrats matching up with republicans around the year 2024. but former florida governor jeb bush has a faster timetable. he said last month, quote, four years from now, texas is going to be a so-called blue state. for more let'

in fact in florida where they tried to stop people from voting, it's made them mad and they go wait in lines two and three hours. thirdly you were right in the earlier segment. there is no question that the auto industry is lethal for romney in ohio. that story was told during the smur summer. the bain story was told during the summer and he lives with it. by the way, he didn't write that headline. i'll let detroit go bankrupt. but he adopted it. he doubled down on it in a television interview and said yes, that's exactly what i was saying. >> is there a motivation pitch being made by rove to make people feel good. >> i think nathsly you're going to see some more movement toward the president. i think he's going to win ohio by 4, 5, 6 points. i think the nbc poll out there is probably right. but rove does have this belief that if you say you're going to win, then you're likely to win. the difficulty with that is even he's getting scared. he's done this interview with the "the washington post" where he said the hurricane helped the president, it's hurt romney. he was predicting romne

% obama surcharge. businesses at denny's restaurants in florida dropped overnight, after his comments got widespread attention, according to the "huffington post." denny's corporate ceo has expressed disappointment with mr. mets and said it wasn't the company's position. what happened here is that these corporate leaders were living the republican lie. they were buying into fearmongering about the economy and the effects of the affordable care act. once president obama won a resounding re-election victory, they stuck to the republican script, but they saw they could potentially take a financial hit by making these threats. it's not worth the risk to the bottom line, to be so political. didn't the ceo of papa john's realize that maybe democrats eat pizza as well? joining me tonight, the political editor of the progressive magazine, ruth connif, and john nichols of "the nation" magazine. john, aren't these leaders figuring out they're going to take a hit to the bottom line, when you choose to be political like this, over their business that really has nothing to do with the politics. wh

? republicans. trying to suppress voters in democratic areas. in florida, republican lawmakers pack the ballot with unnecessary measures to keep voters in the line for as long as they possibly could so they wouldn't do what? vote. scott walker's colleague in wisconsin said mitt romney would have absolutely won the state of wisconsin if they had just had some voter i.d. laws. right? president obama won wisconsin with more than 205,000 votes. that's a lot of people to suppress in order to make a sure romney absolutely would win type situation. don't you think? one of the most outrageous post-election comments about minority voters came from the chairman of the state of maine. their republican party up there. charlie webster, he questioned the mere presence of african-american voters at the polls. >> in some parts of the state, for example, in some parts of rural maine, there were dozens, dozens of black people who came in and voted election day. everybody has a right to vote, but nobody in town knows anybody who's black. how did that happen? we don't know. we're going to find out. >>
